How to Join
The Cal Poly Sailing Team welcomes any Cal Poly student to join. Prior sailing experience is not required. There will be several clinics at the beginning of the new school year (and throughout the school year on an as-needed basis) that allow new & prospective members to test the team before paying full membership dues.

Registration
To be an official member, join the club on Cal Poly Now and complete the following forms. Most forms needed to participate can be found on the Resources and Forms page on the Cal Poly Club Sports website. The pages for the forms are linked below. After completing the forms, let the treasurer know.
1) Join our club (Sailing Team) through CalPoly Now It may take some time for approval (remember to sign in first!).
2) Fill out the participation agreement
a) If you want to drive to team events and practices, fill out the driver form as well (also found on the “forms” tab of CalPoly Now)
3) MBYC Waiver – Complete the Morro Bay Yacht Club Waiver
4) After finishing all of the forms, email us at cpsailing@gmail.com!
Membership Dues
Membership dues for 2023 – 2024 are $300 per year or $120 per quarter. Clinic dues are $20, and if you decide to join the team, this will count towards your membership dues. Dues may be paid via cash, check (made out to Cal Poly ASI, Club Sailing in memo), or PayPal (link below).

What Membership Dues Cover
Your dues cover the following:
Access to boats to sail
Transportation to Sailing practices and regattas
Housing at Sailing regattas
Fees associated with racing at regattas representing Cal Poly
They do not cover the following:
Food and beverages
Excessive misuse/damage to our team and MBYC equipment
Reimbursements
Save your itemized receipt.
Turn into the Treasurer the following meeting of purchase to be reimbursed.
The Treasurer completes a PRF and submits to ASI in the UU Epicenter.
i.e. Drove to a regatta on Friday and come back Sunday – you must submit to Treasurer in 2 days, that Tuesday.
Not only is it important for us to track our account expenses, timely reimbursement can only be provided if you follow this timeline.
ASI will issue you a check from our account to pick up (unless otherwise coordinated with the Treasurer to be mailed).
If you haven’t heard from ASI within 2.5 weeks, definitely bring to the Treasurer’s attention.

Practices
Cal Poly Sailing holds multiple practices per week. Due paying members can go to as many or as few practices as they would like. Practices are held out of Morro Bay Yacht Club, 15 minutes North of Cal Poly. If you have paid dues and are not currently in our practices GroupMe please let us know at cpsailing@gmail.com.
